- Musk joined Trump in the Oval Office
- They brought transparency to DOGE’s operations
- DOGE will continue to audit federal employees and agencies
Elon Musk joined Donald Trump in the Oval Office, where they made several comments that clarified DOGE’s operations. DOGE will continue to fight excessive bureaucracy and the resulting questionable spending and corruption, as well as vetting federal employees with low pay but high net income.
More About Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s Comments
As you may remember, Elon Musk has been organizing comprehensive audits of government financial institutions and federal agencies, which faced positive reactions from key crypto players.
That said, we have yet to hear many comments on how Donald Trump and Elon Musk are coordinating these initiatives, and who Musk actually reports to besides Trump. But in their joint meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday, there were some pointed questions and pretty unequivocal answers.
In particular, Elon Musk commented on how the bureaucracy hinders transparency and accountability:
“If there’s not a good feedback loop from the people to the government and if you have rule of the bureaucrat, or if the bureaucracy is in charge, then what meaning does democracy actually have?”
Also given the radical nature of his department’s measures, he had to indicate that he does not consider them “draconian or radical” and DOGE’s goal is to bring the government to “the right size.” He added that DOGE will continue to vet federal employees with high net worth at low salaries.
“There needs to be a lot of people working for the federal government, but not as many as currently.”
Gave some comments and Donald Trump, some of whose initiatives go against the decisions of certain federal agencies and how he will deal with it. In particular, it was about the decision of judges regarding his executive orders, and above all, Trump expressed suspicion:
“And now a judge who’s an activist judge wants to try and stop us from doing this. Why? And why would they want to do that? I campaigned on this.”
However, ABC’s Scott asked the president:
“If a judge does block one of your policies, part of your agenda, will you abide by that ruling? Will you comply? Maybe we have to look at the judges because that’s very serious. I think it’s a very serious violation.”
Trump has indicated that he is not going to break the law and will act within it, but will push his own agenda:
“Well, I always abide by the courts and then I’ll have to appeal it. I would hope that a judge, if you go into a judge and you show them, here’s a corrupt situation, we have a check to be sent but we found it to be corrupt. Do you want us to send this corrupt check to a person, or do you want us not to give it and give it back to the taxpayer? I would hope a judge would say, don’t send it, give it back to the taxpayer.”
Conclusion
It seems that the activities of Elon Musk and his DOGE are not going to stop for the time being, nor are they meeting resistance in the White House.
Likely, the streamlining of government audits will still continue, although such rapid measures can raise concerns about it. Be aware and stay tuned for updates on the rapidly reshaping crypto landscape.
