Cryptocurrencies are quite the buzz at the moment, without a doubt. The importance of crypto and how it should be introduced to the next generation has been emphasized by Eric Adams the New York Mayor-elect.

The incoming Mayor of New York has stated that it is important for schools to include cryptocurrencies studies in their curricula. This will help students understand what crypto is and prepare them to navigate the world of crypto.

Introducing crypto assets at such a basic level will not only be beneficial for the new generation but will also further magnify the utility and value of digital assets.

Eric Adams Stance Towards Crypto

The Mayor-elect of New York, Eric Adams, has had a pro-crypto stance. He has also revealed that he has some plans for the education system, which are somewhat in accordance with his stance.

During a recent interview, Adams stated:

We must open our schools to teach the technology, to teach this new way of thinking.”

He believes that crypto assets are a new way of making payments not only in the country but throughout the globe and students should be well-equipped with the knowledge of blockchain technology so they can adapt to this “new way of thinking”.

Eric Adams is a 61-year old Democrat and stated his surprise when his young constituents were unaware of crypto. Adams stated:

When I talked about blockchain and Bitcoins, young people on the street stopped and asked me, ‘What is that?’”

The Mayor-elect continued to talk about the importance of Bitcoin and indicated that he plans on encouraging businesses in New York to accept BTC and other digital assets. He stated that he would tread lightly and “get it right”.

Even though this can be a highly beneficial decision for Bitcoin and the overall crypto space, there have been mixed reactions to Eric Adams’ education plans.

However, New York would not be the first city in the USA with a study program including crypto. Earlier this year, a bill was passed by the Georgia House of Representatives to start a financial literacy program in high schools that would include cryptocurrency studies.

Could This Benefit Bitcoin?

The flagship cryptocurrency is currently moving with very bullish momentum. It has broken through a very important level of $60k and is currently trading at $65,636 (at the time of writing).

The New York Mayor-elect Eric Adams not only plans to introduce crypto studies in schools but also plans to transform New York city into USA’s crypto hub. This can be seen as a major shift in favor of crypto assets as such an initiative will make the cryptocurrencies, their value and utility quite prominent.

However, how it really affects Bitcoin and other digital currencies in real life will only be seen with time.

Therefore, if you are in the United States and want to start investing in crypto then make sure you take a look at the top crypto exchanges in the USA.
