MicroStrategy just came out with another massive Bitcoin acquisition today. This morning, the company’s CEO, Michael Saylor, announced a purchase of approximately 6,220 BTC for around $739.8 million.

While the company continues to add $BTC to its treasury recurrently, averaging around a purchase a week, today’s acquisition marks the largest investment since June 16. This latest buy also pushes Strategy’s total holdings to 607,770 BTC, acquired for roughly $43.61 billion at an average cost basis of $71,756 per bitcoin.

The company also reported a year-to-date Bitcoin yield of 20.8% for 2025, a metric Saylor uses to highlight the performance of Strategy’s crypto-first treasury strategy. The acquisition was funded through a mix of equity offerings across multiple security classes, including MSTR common stock and preferred shares like STRK, STRF, and STRD.

Strategy’s aggressive accumulation continues to position it as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally, outpacing even the Ethereum Foundation in terms of crypto reserves. The company’s approach, converting equity into BTC at scale, has become a blueprint for institutional adoption.

MSTR Stock Trailing Bitcoin

While Bitcoin has rallied to new highs this month, Strategy’s stock (MSTR) has outpaced it. MSTR is up 14.83% over the past 30 days against BTC’s 13.7% over the same period. The stock’s performance has turned heads on Wall Street, with some investors treating it as a proxy for Bitcoin exposure, similar to how ETFs offer indirect access to assets.

Unlike traditional ETFs, MSTR is a publicly traded operating company with a leveraged Bitcoin strategy. That distinction matters, but the result is similar: investors looking for BTC exposure without holding the asset directly are increasingly turning to Strategy.
