SEC announces agenda for Tokenization roundtable and reschedules DeFi discussion from June 6 to June 9. The upcoming Tokenization — Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet roundtable, as a first in the series and part of the Crypto Task Force initiative, features major traditional finance and crypto industry players. From traditional markets, we will see representatives from Nasdaq, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, and, of course, BlackRock. The key representatives from the crypto industry include Chia Network, Robinhood, Blockchain Capital, and many others.

Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet Agenda and Participants

On May 12 in Washington, the SEC will hold the roundtable Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet, which promises to be—without exaggeration—a historic event for the crypto industry and the entire financial sector.

Key players from both traditional and crypto markets, along with researchers and lawmakers, will gather under one roof to hold an open discussion aimed at building a coherent crypto strategy.

Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, leader of the Crypto Task Force, said:

“Tokenization is a technological development that could substantially change many aspects of our financial markets. I look forward to hearing ideas from our panelists on how the SEC should approach this area.”

The agenda shows that the discussion will be divided into two parts. The first session, Evolution of Finance: Capital Markets 2.0, will be moderated by Jeff Dinwoodie from Cravath. Among the participants:

  • Cynthia Lo Bessette from Fidelity
  • Eun Ah Choi from Nasdaq
  • Will Geyer from Invesco
  • Sandy Kaul from Franklin Templeton
  • Robert Mitchnick from BlackRock
  • Christine Moy from Apollo Management
  • Johnny Reinsch from the Tokenized Asset Coalition
  • Christian Sabella from DTCC
  • Alex Zozos from SuperState

The second session, The Future of Tokenization, will take place after the break. It will be moderated by Tiffany Smith from WilmerHale, with the following speakers:

  • Hilary Allen from American University
  • Gene Hoffman from Chia Network
  • Johann Kerbrat from Robinhood
  • Kelly Matheson from Canton
  • Sidney Powell from Maple Finance
  • Georgia Quinn from Securitize
  • Joshua Rivera from Blockchain Capital
  • Angela Walch, independent researcher

While we don’t yet know how the discussion will end, one thing is clear—it’s happening at the highest level, with maximum diligence. This could be the beginning of a new era where crypto becomes part of the foundation of our world rather than a parallel reality.

Still, one of crypto’s defining traits is its openness to everyone—and you can already take part, especially by choosing secure and cost-effective crypto platforms.

An important addition to this announcement is that the DeFi and the American Spirit roundtable, originally scheduled for June 6, has been moved to June 9. That discussion, too, may turn out to be no less historic.
