Chainlink Partners With FTSE Russell to Bring Benchmark Data On-Chain
This isn’t just another partnership. This is the foundation layer for the Real-World Asset (RWA) era.
Chainlink has announced a landmark collaboration with FTSE Russell, a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and one of the most influential benchmark providers in global finance.
FTSE Russell is the name behind indexes like the FTSE 100, Russell 1000, and Russell 2000, benchmarks that anchor trillions of dollars in assets worldwide.
Now, for the first time, one of these global benchmark giants is publishing verified market data directly on-chain.
Why This Matters
For years, tokenized ETFs and on-chain funds have been stuck in theory. The main problem was trust: how could a smart contract know that an index or benchmark price was accurate without depending on a website or off-chain feed?
Enter Chainlink.
Through Chainlink’s DataLink, FTSE Russell can broadcast its official data securely to blockchain networks, creating a single source of truth for institutions, DeFi protocols, and tokenization platforms.
In practice, this means anyone building tokenized products can now reference the same “golden source” data used by banks, funds, and trading desks across the world.
What They Said
FTSE Russell CEO Fiona Bassett called the partnership “a major step in enabling innovation around tokenized assets, ETFs, and next-generation financial products.”
For Chainlink, it’s validation from one of the most established institutions in finance, and another sign that traditional market data is moving on-chain for good.
The Bigger Picture
This collaboration doesn’t just bring credibility to the RWA narrative, it brings the infrastructure.
With benchmark data, settlement layers, and cross-chain messaging now coming together, tokenized markets are shifting from prototypes to production.
The rails are being built, and for the first time, TradFi’s core data providers are the ones laying them.
