Avalanche Treasury to Buy $1B AVAX, Plans Nasdaq Listing
The price of AVAX surged mid-week, fueled by news that Avalanche is stepping into Wall Street territory with a bold move.
A newly formed entity, Avalanche Treasury Co., has unveiled plans to go public in the US while committing to purchase over $1 billion worth of AVAX tokens.
This development carries weight not just for Avalanche but for the broader crypto market, signaling that institutional-style vehicles are increasingly positioning themselves around blockchain ecosystems.
The move mirrors a growing trend where specialized treasury companies focus exclusively on accumulating and managing digital assets.
The strategy is being executed through a merger with Mountain Lake Acquisition Corp., a SPAC valued at more than $675 million.
Once completed, the merged company expects to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AVAT in early 2026, pending regulatory and shareholder approvals.
The initiative also strengthens Avalanche’s ecosystem with notable backing, as Ava Labs’ founder and CEO Emin Gün Sirer is set to join as an adviser.
His involvement adds credibility and technical depth to what is essentially a hybrid between traditional finance structures and crypto-native treasury strategies.
Avalanche Treasury Co. becomes only the second company of its kind dedicated to the Avalanche blockchain, highlighting a niche but growing category of investment entities designed to act as long-term holders of specific crypto assets.
In a year already packed with corporations either going public or reshaping their models around crypto accumulation, this move stands out both for its scale and its timing.
With over $1 billion in planned AVAX purchases, the supply-demand dynamics for the token could tighten significantly, potentially supporting further upside if execution matches expectations.
Traders and long-term investors alike are already speculating on what this means for AVAX’s price trajectory leading into 2026.
